I have this detailed plot, characters, landscapes in my head and I so want it to be materialized into a novel. I wanted it to be a teen fantasy, a sort of Lord of the Rings for the YA Filipinos, but, but, I find it so difficult to start. As if it's so brittle, and I fear it may crumble once I start painting...

Can I seek your counsel?

-Madz (2nd year UP Engg student, who doesn't wanna be Engg anymore, and might be transferring to ADMU)

my e-add: blue.stained@gmail.com
my blog (if you want to know a bit more about me, the cover photo's cute though):
kaprersc.blogspot.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15143619670037606480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7513873611479966923.post-80368313487733867952014-05-23T02:13:53.173-07:002014-05-23T02:13:53.173-07:00Thanks, CM :)Thanks, CM :)Anne Carly Abadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16178146088085962148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7513873611479966923.post-19186262714639247442014-05-22T21:01:44.374-07:002014-05-22T21:01:44.374-07:00Congratulations. Though, I am wary of it, as it tends to incite fanaticism in followers, I see many of its good points as well. The danger is in the two extremes:

1) Religion is good. It is the only way.

2) Religion is evil. Remove it altogether.

Both sides oversimplify, as you state. There is a sense of superstition in both.Anne Carly Abadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16178146088085962148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7513873611479966923.post-35407440963399279082013-09-18T00:52:58.487-07:002013-09-18T00:52:58.487-07:00I like to think of the role of religion in society...I like to think of the role of religion in society in the terms that Reza Aslan puts it with my own personal interpretation.

All of us are at a journey to find meaning. That meaning is getting to a particular destination, be it the side of God (or whatever you might call him/her/it) or realizing our purpose as human beings. The doctrines of religions serve merely as road signs along a particular path. There is no singular way to get to our ultimate destination. We decide which path we want to take.

Some of us find it more comfortable to tread the path that others have taken beforehand and make use of the road signs they left behind. That is the relevance of religion.

Some of us (in the context of theists) want to reach that ultimate destination, but do so by travelling their own uncharted path.

Some of us (I for one as an agnostic) will travel to that destination although whether I reach it or not does not matter. It is the actual journey that matters.

In the end, religion is there to help others but it does not apply to everyone. To merely say that it is the only cause of a decay of society is oversimplifying it. If only people would be more concerned of their own journey than by those of others, maybe society would improve for the better.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7513873611479966923.post-67424175970898644702013-09-15T18:22:16.888-07:002013-09-15T18:22:16.888-07:00Hi Ilse, they used to have a post on Facebook Note...Hi Ilse, they used to have a post on Facebook Notes stating their guidelines.
